New technology is first-to-market for volumetric enhancement of ultrasound images
BOSTON, Mass. and STOCKHOLM, Sweden – June 2, 2009 – ContextVision, the software imaging partner for the most recognized medical imaging manufacturers worldwide, today announced that Thomas Jefferson University conducted a clinical evaluation with GOPiCE® US volumetric image enhancement and real-time ultrasound adaptive filtering for 3D ultrasound images. The study, which is not yet publicly released, concludes that GOPiCE US offers improved diagnostic value over competing image enhancement technologies.
“Having compared both unprocessed volumes and volumes processed with the current state-of-the-art image enhancement software (2D processing), the new technique represented by GOPiCE 3D performed significantly better,” said Dr. Flemming Forsberg, Department of Radiology, Thomas Jefferson University.
GOPiCE US is the first product on the market to offer real-time volumetric image enhancement and real-time ultrasound adaptive filtering for 3D and 4D ultrasound volumes.
“GOPiCE US demonstrates ContextVision’s continued leadership in providing better images and improved diagnostic value. The new study results validate the effectiveness of our volumetric image enhancement filters for 3D/4D images.” said Bo W. Hultgren, Senior Product Manager, ContextVision.
Like all ContextVision products, GOPiCE US relies on an adaptive algorithm, GOP®, which mimics the human eye’s method of finding information and analyzing structures. This enables the software to distinguish between true and false information (e.g. noise, artifacts) and accurately identify true structures.
GOPiCE US software easily integrates into modern software-based ultrasound systems and is available on either a GPU or CPU. Visit here to download a product sheet.
